Jethro Tull 46 | Проговая команда «Threshold» образовалась на юге Англии в 1988 году. В ее первоначальный состав вошли гитаристы Карл Грум и Ник Мидсон, вокалист Джон Джири, ударник Тони Гринхэм и бас-гитарист Йен Беннетт. Первые четыре года группа работала над накоплением материала, попутно решая кадровые проблемы. С приходом Дэмиэна Уилсона Джон уступил ему микрофон, а сам переключился на бас-гитару. 1992-й год был ознаменован для «Threshold» двумя событиями – появлением клавишника Ричарда Веста и подписанием контракта с независимым лейблом «GEP records».
В начале 1993-го вышла дебютная работа, «Wounded land», являвшаяся концептуальной и посвященная загрязнению земной атмосферы. В поддержку пластинки коллектив провел европейские и японские гастроли, после чего заявил о своем уходе Уилсон. Дело в том, что вокалист делал ставку на акустические вещи, но большинство музыкантов его не поддерживало.
Через некоторое время откланялся и Гринхэм, а новыми членами «Threshold» стали вокалист Глинн Морган и ударник Ник
Хэррэденс. Оба они дебютировали на альбоме «Psychedelicatessen», отличавшимся от предшественника более жестким саундом. Ник отыграл с группой всего один концерт, после чего ударные перешли в ведение Джея Миссича. Коллектив провел европейские гастроли в компании «Psychotic waltz» и «Dream theater», а следом выпустил мини-концертник «Livedelica». Летом 1996-го команда вновь осталась без барабанщика и вокалиста, поскольку Глинн и Джей ушли формировать «Mindfeed». В скором времени в «Threshold» вернулся Уилсон и привел за собой Марка Хини.
